Strong Performance for Historic Nottingham Arcade

     

Nottingham's premier shopping centre, The Exchange, has recorded another strong end of year performance according to recently confirmed trading and footfall data for the year to December 2014.

Footfall for the centre, which is Nottingham's oldest purpose-built shopping arcade, was up a notable 9.2% on 2013 figures and reflects a consistent and continuing level of custom for the scheme according to Centre Manager, Neil Fincham.

"I think these figures are a good result in any context," said Mr Fincham, "but when assessed against the national picture, which showed only a modest change on 2013 figures, they underline a particularly healthy performance for the centre even in an improving market.

"Notably, it was the second half of the year where the significant increases were seen. This period followed the refurbishment of the main arcade's York Stone floor in May, as well as seeing the opening of Radley's new store in the centre in the autumn. I feel sure that the fully let status of The Exchange played a big part in the figures, which also saw our highest Christmas footfall levels ever."

Mr Fincham added, "The last five years has seen a steady increase in the mean monthly footfall for the centre, which is now at a level 20% higher than 2010 results. Whilst not at all complacent, the data and Radley's store opening certainly speak of a continuing confidence in The Exchange and Nottingham as a whole, which I hope points to ongoing success over the next twelve months."
