Out Of Work Angels by Hamish Blakely at Castle Fine Art
Out Of Work Angels by Hamish Blakely
Castle Fine Art are pleased to present a new body of original work from acclaimed figurative painter Hamish Blakely. Out Of Work Angels raise powerful questions about religion’s place in modern society through the depiction of his elegant angels.
An ardent student of the great masters including Caravaggio, Velasquez and Rembrandt, Blakely believes a great painting will endure long after the initial impact. His latest work voices powerful questions about religion’s place in modern society through the depiction of angels, who are elegant and alluring despite having been forsaken by humanity; no longer called upon for guidance or help. This collection explores the ripple effects in heaven and the fallout on earth.
Following on from a prestigious launch in Mayfair last month, a carefully curated display of work from the Out Of Work Angels collection will be available to view in the gallery from Saturday 18th July - Sunday 2nd August.

This new collection avaialble at Castle Fine Art charts the rise of global sports icon, Pelé, through a collection of captivating photographs.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento—better known as Pelé—is the most celebrated football player in history and perhaps the most popular, exciting athlete the world has ever known. A native of Brazil, Pelé enjoyed a professional career during which he scored 1,283 goals in 1,366 matches.
Between the 1950s and 1970s he was accompanied by photographer José Dias Herrera, who captured his rise from budding athlete to global icon. Herrera gained unprecedented access to Pelé’s personal life and victories on the field, creating iconic photographs that would shape his image for decades.
Castle Fine Art are privileged to be releasing a selection of images from Herrera's time with Pelé as limited edition prints. The collection, entitled 'Art Life Football - Herrera Archive', consists of eight images capturing a series of emotions and moments which will resonate with people across the globe. Jaeger Then & Now
Did you know that we have Napoleon to thank for the original Breton striped shirt? He may have been short, but the French military leader was way ahead of the fashion curve. It wasn't until 1917, when Coco Chanel introduced it into her resort collection, that the humble pattern became a sartorial classic. The rest, as they say, is history. Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot and Kate Moss have all since been associated with the classic stripe ‒ as has Jaeger. For SS15, we took inspiration from the striped pieces of our past...
How to improve a beloved classic? Make it in the finest, softest, lightest cashmere (of course). You also have two colours ‒ navy or white ‒ to choose from. We guarantee you'll want both.
For Spring Summer '15 we wanted to give our striped top a special update. So, we enlisted the help of some special sheep from the Gostwyck farm in Australia. It has to be felt to be believed...
We've taken our engineered stripe ‒ a stripe which doesn't repeat itself ‒ and used it to give our signature sweater dress a chic new spin. The best part? It's totally trans-seasonal.
