PAS DE CALAIS AW14 Collection at Tutu Urban Boutique

PAS DE CALAIS AW14 Collection at Tutu Urban Boutique.

Reinventing Nostalgia with a Streak of Simplicity

Japanese simplicity meets French elegance in the Japanese street wear brand Pas de Calais. Yukari Suda has been the Pas de Calais designer since the company's launch in Japan, 1998. She balances Japanese simplicity with French elegance and each piece is defined by a clean and sophisticated aesthetic. Through various techniques from traditional dyeing to highly advanced technology, natural materials such as cotton, linen, and silk are transformed into original textiles which come together to compose a collection of effortless and wearable pieces.

The designer’s signature pieces include an elegant, light-to-the-touch cardigan and cropped sweatpants made of wool fabric — the kind typically used for business suits. This distinctive combination of fabric gives the line a fresh take on casual classics. In fact, the more you wear Pas de Calais, the more characteristic the textures becomes, which is just the kind of comfort Suda is seeking.

An essence of purity and nostalgia added to modern casual design, the Pas de Calais spirit is a romantic contemporary universe. Combining a variety of traditional dyeing and advanced techniques used with cotton, linen and silk, Pas de Calais develops its own original textiles. Natural materials are harmoniously composed into a comfortable wearable collection. The colour tones, like the surrounding landscape, are based on soft naturally subdued shades of ecru, sand, khaki green, chalk white, dove grey and coal black.

New Radley store opens in The Exchange

New Radley store opens in The Exchange
British accessory brand Radley is set to open its new Nottingham store on Saturday 1st November in the city’s historic shopping arcade, The Exchange.
Founded in 1998 and now one of the UK’s leading accessory brands, Radley have an established reputation for quirky, hand-crafted bags, leather goods and accessories, and are another major brand to open in the centre following Dr Martens, Patisserie Valerie and Harvey Jones Kitchens.
The shop will open with the new Radley ‘Christmas Workshop’ campaign which will see the store transform into a gifting workshop. Filled with the perfect Christmas accessory gifts along with Radley’s little helpers, who will be on hand to help with customer’s Christmas shopping and wrapping, Radley will also be holding Christmas workshop events. These will feature in-house craftsman embossing beautiful leather tags for free with customer’s bag purchases in the run up to Christmas.
The Exchange Centre Manager, Neil Fincham commented, “Radley are a really good fit for The Exchange, complementing our other stores and adding to the overall mix in the centre, which can only enhance its appeal as a whole. Their arrival is significant not least because it also means The Exchange is once again fully let which, in contrast to other larger schemes, is a notable achievement.”
The centre’s fully let status follows a prolonged period of strong footfall returns, which show a consistent performance above National Benchmark figures.
“Like everyone we're subject to the vagaries of the market,” added Mr Fincham, “nevertheless, footfall in the centre has remained strong against national comparisons, often recording higher percentage increases.”
“Of course footfall is only ever half the story,” he continued, “as takings in store are the real indicator. Feedback from our stores show takings have also risen, with some tenants reporting sales significantly up on last year. Whist not at all complacent about the market as a whole, I feel Radley’s opening certainly speaks of a continuing confidence in The Exchange and Nottingham as a whole, which I also hope is a further sign of a broader economic recovery.”
Radley’s arrival caps a notable year for The Exchange, following the wholesale replacement of the main arcade’s York stone floor and entrance doors in the summer.

Gostwyck Knitwear at Jaeger

Prepare yourself for a completely new knitwear experience: light, soft, pure merino that gives unparalleled comfort next to your skin.
Here are three reasons our Gostwyck wool is so special.
1. Its Story
Gostwyck wool comes from an idyllic family-run farm in New South Wales, Australia. For generations, Gostwyck's farmers have worked night and day becoming world experts on how to breed sheep for their wool quality, testing every single fleece with a laser scan to check for absolute softness and strength.

2. The Sheep
Sheep on the Gostwyck farm might just be the happiest in the world: they're farmed in a way that focuses on their needs, with plenty of human attention, all the food they need, huge grazing spaces, and all done in an eco-respectful way. And that love and care shows through in their fleeces.

3. Its Unbelievable Quality
Our Gostwyck sweaters reach you with the same softness as when the fleece left the farm: they're blended with absolutely nothing else, a UK first and exclusive to us. They're so pure, you can see it in the vibrancy of their colour. And they're machine washable. Sounds too good to be true. Except it is.

The Exchange Christmas Lights Event.

The Exchange Christmas Lights Event.
The Exchange is #Nottingham's oldest shopping arcade, with its magnificent Grade II* listed buildings a spectacular sight at any time of year. This is doubly true at Christmas, when the centre is justifiably renowned for its beautiful Christmas decorations which look truly splendid in the centre's rich Edwardian setting. The décor will look even more spectacular this year, following the refurbishment in the summer of the arcade's stone floor, with the mellow York Stone providing an ideal contrast to the green and purple of centre's scheme.
The decorations go up on Saturday 22nd November, which is also the day of our popular Christmas Lights Event.
Visit the centre from 11.00am on the day and, as well as being amongst the first to see the decorations, you'll also be able to enjoy a live entertainment and music including:
Amazing close-up Street Magic from the wizardly Roy Bond, who promises some jaw-dropping tricks and amazing sleight of hand. There'll be a feast of festive music to really get you in the Christmas spirit and children will particularly enjoy the wonderful balloon creations & face painting. There'll also be giveaways and sweet treats - so be sure to arrive early!
What's more, when you purchase anything from any of The Exchange's stores you can also enter our fabulous prize draw to win one of 5 prizes of £200 each in Exchange Shopping Vouchers! Redeemable in all the centre's stores, they're the perfect thing for Christmas shopping, to give as a gift or even for a little self-indulgence.

The Christmas Lights Event runs all day from 11.00am on Saturday 22nd November.

Night, Camera, Fashion – Behind the scenes at The Exchange’s AW14 photoshoot

Night, Camera, Fashion – Behind the scenes at The Exchange’s AW14 photoshoot

This season's Exchange Magazine noir-themed photoshoot was shot exclusively on location in and around The Exchange on the night of 15th September. Here is an exclusive look behind the scenes of a shoot that saw the final shot taken at just after midnight on the morning of 16th!
Following hair & make-up in the photographer's studio at 5.00pm, the crew of photographer, two studio assistants, two models, hair stylist, make-up artist, fashion stylist, magazine editor and centre manager, along with assorted lights, cameras & accessories, make-up products, curling tongs & hairspray, over 50 items of clothing and a step ladder decamped en mass to The Exchange offices, base of operations for the night, at 6.00pm.
"We'll be done by 9.30" proved to be wildly optimistic, as 10.30, 11.30 and finally 12.00am went by with an ever-growing inevitability. Setting up each shot, clothing changes, hair and make-up running repairs and location moves all conspired to add time, aided and abetted by a motley collection of variously intoxicated passers-by who wanted to know what we were up to.
For a good part of the night we were also serenaded by a busker who, for reasons I'm unable to readily grasp, has opted to ply his trade in the dead of night. A particularly excruciating rendition of U2'sOnewill stay with me forever.
The shots opposite will hopefully give an insight to what was involved, with the final images in the AW14 edition of The Exchange Magazine. You can pick up a magazine for free in any store in The Exchange now, or view the fully interactive digital edition by clicking here. The online issue also contains an exclusive extended edit of the shoot, featuring shots we couldn't use in the print edition, along with alternate versions of some we did.

NUE 19.04 Autumn 2014 Collection at TUTU Urban Boutique

NUE 19.04 Autumn 2014 Collection at TUTU Urban Boutique

With its originality and elegance, the 19.04 NUE woman has character. It is delicate and sensual, while allowing express its 'rock side'.
Cyril Paillot creates ‘ready to keep’ clothes that are like a second skin. A sharp, powerful yet unstructured style; these clothes fit the body and stick to the soul. They expose the true identity of their wearer.
Playing with opposites they are wild yet fragile – the glam with the rock, silk with leather, wools with vintage crepe. A truly French ascetic, cool yet classic, not undermined by age or social setting. A must have addition to any wardrobe.

The Exchange Magazine Autumn/Winter14 Edition

The Exchange Magazine Autumn/Winter14 Edition

The AW14 issue of The Exchange Magazine will be out soon and free to pick up in the centre, as well as available to read online in the fully interactive digital edition.

In the SS issue of the magazine we trailed the laying of the centre's new York stone floor, a £150,000 investment for The Exchange. Taking place over the summer, the new floor has now been laid and, along with the fitting of three new sets of entrance doors, made an immediate and splendid difference to the look of the arcade. Whilst nothing can substitute for seeing the centre in the flesh, you can read the full story of the refurbishment in our photo feature, Paved for Success.

With over 100 million record sales covering more than three decades, Bryan Adams is one of the world's most successful singer-songwriters and musicians. His connection to Nottingham was forever cemented when the title song he wrote for the 1991 film, Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, spent 16 weeks at Number 1. He plays the Capital FM Arena on 13th November and took time out of his hectic schedule to talk exclusively to us about The Life of Bryan.

Fashion is at the heart of The Exchange's shopping offer and this issue's night-time photoshoot hits the highlights of the seasonal trends from the centre's stores. Shot on location in and around The Exchange, its noir-ish overtones offer the perfect backdrop to showcase the season's key styles.

Our style pages further feature the season's fashions and must-have beauty products, while the Gifts page offers suggestions for all those present dilemmas.

Add to that news from around the centre, art and Chris Goodrum's whiskey choices, there's sure to be something for all.
