Star Wars Marvel at Castle Fine Art

Translated into limited edition art for the first time in collaboration with Marvel's fine art publisher, Choice Fine Art and Acme Archives, this collection of Star Wars comic book covers printed by Marvel celebrates one of the most famous film franchises of all time and encapsulates the battle between good and evil which both Star Wars and Marvel are recognised for.

It is rumoured that George Lucas initially approached Stan Lee in the mid-1970s when the first of the Star Wars film was still in production. With a timeless concept, complex, well-drawn characters and an underlying battle between good and evil, Stan Lee – who is responsible for the creation some of the most iconic superheroes in popular culture today - recognised something special in the burgeoning franchise, and so the Star Wars Marvel comic series was born. Published between 1977 - 1986, it was the first official comic book adaptation of Star Wars and the meeting of minds between two highly influential creative talents proved a to be a smash hit on its release.

Penned and inked by some of the greatest comic book artists and illustrators, including Carmine Infantino, Walt Simonson and Al Williamson, and chosen, curated and hand-signed by Stan Lee, the new collection pays tribute to some the most memorable Star Wars characters. Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, the Stormtroopers, R2-D2, C-3P0 and the greatest villain of all time, Darth Vader, all make an appearance in the series. The new collection consists of six images available in both boxed canvas and giclee on paper editions. Prices start from £695 and portfolio sets are also available.

The new Star Wars film The Force Awakes is predicted to set the record for the biggest global box-office opening this December, but before that don’t miss this epic new collection of limited edition art and be one of the first to own a slice of iconic pop culture history.

Christmas Lights at The Exchange

Images Courtesy West Bridgford Wire

The Christmas Lights Event at The Exchange on Saturday 21st November was an overwhelming success, with nearly 12,500 people visiting the centre through the day.
Visitors were entertained by incredible close-up street magic from the wizardly Roy Bond, live Christmas music from the Thoresby Colliery Band and The Beorma Singers, face painting and balloon modelling, giveaways and sweet treats. Customers were also able to enter a free draw to win some great prizes, including £1,000 in Exchange Shopping Vouchers.
The Exchange has been especially popular with visitors over Christmas since it opened 85 years ago, with the wonderful architecture of the building the ideal backdrop for seasonal decorations. This year, visitors to the event were also the first to see the centre’s new decoration scheme which, with its white & gold palette and feature candelabras, perfectly complemented the mellow stone of the walls and floor.
The 2015 event has now become the most successful Christmas event yet for the centre, with the day also beating last year’s record footfall for a single day.
Neil Fincham, The Exchange Centre Manager commented, “Whilst The Lights Event is ultimately designed to attract people to the centre to shop, the added value elements of  live entertainment and music contribute significantly to its overall appeal and success.
“Competition in retail is intense at any time,” he continued, “arguably even more so these days with increasing options for shoppers both online and on the High Street, such as the Black Friday. Keeping shoppers engaged with the centre is something we can never be complacent about, so it was especially pleasing to see attendance this year yet again break records.”
Initial data suggests that takings were also in line with the increased footfall, maintaining the upward trend for the event.
The centre’s interactive digital Christmas Gift Guide will also be online soon, as well as being accessible via the new Exchange Magazine apps for Apple, Android and Kindle devices.
All products featured are clickable, meaning readers can buy online directly from the guide or pick up their purchases when they next visit the centre via Click & Collect.

Jonathan Saunders at Radley

Radley have collaborated with leading British fashion designer, Jonathan Saunders. His unique skill for combining often-unusual colour combinations and innovative print design goes hand in hand with Radley's love affair for bod hues and vibrant prints. Taking reference from Radley's signature styles, the result is a striking collection of graphic leather bags and wallets.
Saunders was attracted to Radley's smooth, polished Altmore leather to showcase the crisp graphic print, and a blend of the Altmore and Meadle, a textured tumbled leather, for the standout colour block combinations, complimenting these with gold hardware.
"I like to combine colours that would not traditionally work together," says Saunders. "This collection shows unexpected combinations, helping create striking pieces with a point of difference."
"I always look to the women closest to me for inspiration. It's important to design product that works with women's lifestyles. All of the styles are named after close friends of mine."
