Patisserie Valerie to open in The Exchange
When The Exchange first opened its doors in 1929 it was the site
of a Fortnum's-style food centre called Burton's Arcade. It's
doubly fitting then, that nearly 85 years later food is to be put
firmly back on the menu within the centre with the opening of
Patisserie Valerie, who first started in business in 1926.
The first Patisserie Valerie was opened in Frith Street in Soho
by one Madam Valerie, who came to London on a mission to introduce
fine Continental Patisserie to the English. Every Valerie Café has
its own individual style and decor, but all of them have the same
continental atmosphere.
Due to open in the late spring, Patisserie Valerie is a haven of
self- indulgence with the most exquisite cakes, gateaux and
patisseries available, all hand-made using traditional recipes and
authentic methods.
And what better place to indulge than in the magnificent setting
of The Exchange's Grade 11* listed arcade? With seating available
under the centre's renowned domed roof as well as in the store,
it's the perfect place to take a break from shopping, relax and
watch the world go by.
