Art Life Football | The Herrera Archives

This new collection avaialble at Castle Fine Art charts the rise of global sports icon, Pelé, through a collection of captivating photographs.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento—better known as Pelé—is the most celebrated football player in history and perhaps the most popular, exciting athlete the world has ever known. A native of Brazil, Pelé enjoyed a professional career during which he scored 1,283 goals in 1,366 matches.

Between the 1950s and 1970s he was accompanied by photographer José Dias Herrera, who captured his rise from budding athlete to global icon. Herrera gained unprecedented access to Pelé’s personal life and victories on the field, creating iconic photographs that would shape his image for decades.

Castle Fine Art are privileged to be releasing a selection of images from Herrera's time with Pelé as limited edition prints. The collection, entitled 'Art Life Football - Herrera Archive', consists of eight images capturing a series of emotions and moments which will resonate with people across the globe. Each giclée and silver gelatin print has been hand signed by Pelé, giving it the ultimate seal of approval.

Art Life Football - The Herrera Archive will be available to view and purchase in the gallery and online from Friday 26th June. View the digital catalogue now > http://ow.ly/OMfF2
